Iron & Oak Bourbon Barrel Mead is a genuinely limited-release Australian mead, matured in a single 20-litre Tasmanian oak ex-Bourbon cask.
The cask brings together the pure character of Ironbark honey with the influence of Tasmanian oak and Bourbon. Time in barrel has layered this traditional mead with depth and complexity while retaining the distinctive character of the Australian honey at its heart.
At 14.5% Alc/Vol, Iron & Oak offers rich honey aromatics with layers of toasted oak, vanilla and warm Bourbon character. Floral notes of Ironbark provide balance and lift, leading to a smooth, complex and lingering finish.
Crafted by Amrita Park Meadery in the Noosa Hinterland, Queensland, this release came from a single 20-litre cask, yielding just 40 individually numbered bottles.
Best enjoyed slowly at cellar temperature or lightly chilled.
